Ryan was born in Winfield, Kansas and grew up rodeoing, playing soccer, and practicing Tae Kwon Do. He attended Southwestern College where he graduated valedictorian with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religious Studies, emphasis in Philosophy – but more importantly, it was where he met his future wife.
Ryan and Bobbi married and moved to Maryland where Ryan worked as a substitute teacher and legislative aide and lobbyist while attending graduate school. He earned his Master of Arts in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Western Classics from St. John’s College, and wrote his masters thesis on the Supreme Court’s use of stare decisis (legal precedent). After graduate school, Ryan and Bobbi moved to Lawrence, Kansas where they both earned their Juris Doctors from the University of Kansas School of Law, Ryan in 2006 and Bobbi in 2010. Following law school, Ryan worked as an adjunct professor of Business Law in Southwestern College’s MBA program in 2006 and as a extern for the Kansas Supreme Court in 2010. He is currently earning his Doctorate of Juridical Science from KU Law where he is studying the science and interpretation of law in different legal systems. Ryan enjoys spending time with Bobbi and their chinchilla Ash, attending church activities, writing fiction, and working out and practicing Tae Kwon Do.
